With
this test stand, the volume of combustion chambers can be accurately
determined
(±0,1 cm³).
The test
medium is air, and the measurement is a differential pressure. An exact
quantity of air is introduced into the test
cavity from a reference
chamber. The resultant pressure after expansion is a precise parameter of
the size of the volume to be measured. Either the absolute volume or the
deviation from a nominal volume can be measured and displayed.
One of the major fields of
application is to determine the size of combustion chambers in cylinder
heads. Others are the piston crown volume and the cavity size of
Visco-couplings.
JWF volumetric measuring
stands can be equipped with a temperature compensation system
(patent DBP DE 321949 C2).
